Para los tallanes el lagarto, que abundaba en el río Chira, era considerado una divinidad, por lo que confeccionaron con oro su imagen. El culto al sagrado “lagarto de oro” se efectuaba en los alrededores del cerro de los marcahuillcas, conocido hoy como “la nariz del diablo”, nombrado así por su siniestra apariencia. Es probable que los marcaveles al tener conocimiento de la llegada de las hordas de Pizarro, codiciando oro y plata, enterraron el sagrado “lagarto de oro” en las entrañas de este misterioso y legendario cerro. Dicen que el lugar era un cementerio tallán, que en algunos días del año brotan “encantos” de las huacas de los gentiles. Años atrás en los días de viernes santo se “huaqueaba” en el lugar. 

Este cerro se encuentra ubicado entre Marcavelica y Salitral, en la margen derecha del río Chira, al costado de la laguna de Marcavelica. Geográficamente corresponde a un elevado y macizo cerro de naturaleza gredosa (arcilla), integrante de una cadena de estribaciones en la parte media del valle del Chira. Es fácil llegar en cualquier vehículo que transita hacia Querecotillo.

HILL "NOSE OF THE DEVIL" 

For the tallanes the lizard that Chira was plentiful in the river, considered era a divinity, for what they made with gold its image. The cult to the sacred one “lizard of gold” it was made in the surroundings of the hill of the marcahuillcas, well-known today like “the devil's nose”, named this way by their sinister appearance. It is probable that the marcaveles when having knowledge of the arrival of the hordes of Pizarro, coveting gold and silver, they buried the sacred one “lizard of gold” in the bowel of this mysterious and legendary hill. They say that the place was a cemetery tallán that sprout in some days of the year “charms” of the huacas of the heathens. Years behind in the days of Friday saint you “huaqueaba” for the hill.  

This hill is located between Marcavelica and Salitral, in the right riverbank of the river Chira, to the side of the lagoon of Marcavelica. Geographically it corresponds to a high and solid hill of chalky nature (clay), integral of a chain of hills in the half part of the valley of the Chira. It is easy to arrive in any vehicle that traffics toward Querecotillo. 

HÜGEL "NASE DES TEUFELS" 

Für den tallanes die Eidechse daß Chira im Fluß reichlich war, betrachtete Ära als eine Göttlichkeit, für das, was sie mit Gold sein Bild machten. Der Kult zum heiligen “Eidechse von Gold” es wurde in den Umgebungen vom Hügel des marcahuillcas gemacht, bekannt Sie heute “die Nase des Teufels”, nannte diesen Weg durch ihr unheimliches Aussehen. Es ist möglich, daß der marcaveles, als das Haben von Wissen von der Ankunft von den Horden von Pizarro, das Begehren von Gold und versilbert, sie begruben das heilige “Eidechse von Gold” im Eingeweide dieses mysteriösen und legendären Hügels. Sie sagen, daß die Stelle ein Friedhof-tallán war, der in einigen Tagen des Jahres sprießt, “Charme” vom huacas der Heiden. Jahre hinter in den Tagen von Freitag Heiligem Sie “huaqueaba” für den Hugel.  

Dieser Hügel wird zwischen Marcavelica und Salitral gefunden, im richtigen Flußufer des Flusses Chira, zur Seite von der Lagune von Marcavelica. Geographisch entspricht es einem hohen und festen Hügel kreidehaltiger Natur (Ton), wesentlich von einer Kette von Hügeln im Hälfte Teil vom Tal vom Chira. Es ist leicht, in irgendeinem Fahrzeug anzukommen der Verkehre zu Querecotillo.
