LA REPRESA DE POECHOS

En la década del 70 se inicia la ejecución del Proyecto Chira-Piura y se construye la represa de Poechos. En enero de 1976 el pueblo de Lancones tuvo que ser reubicado en las pampas de Zapallal, jurisdicción del distrito de Querecotillo. Los pobladores se instalaron en casetas pre-fabricadas hasta que en 1978 el nuevo Lancones fue concluido. Sin embargo, muchos lanconeños emigraron a tierras lejanas para nunca volver.

Ubicada en el distrito de Lancones. Cerca a la represa se encuentran restos de la fortaleza de Poechos, donde llegaron los ejércitos de Huayna Capac, Huáscar y Atahualpa y, posteriormente, desde Tumbes llega el sanguinario Pizarro.

A principios de la década de 1980, cuando se registró una gran sequía, el reservorio quedó totalmente seco y en el fondo de esta laguna, entre el barro y los sedimentos, aún se podía observar el antiguo pueblo de Lancones, con restos de su iglesia y dispersas viviendas.

Cuando el reservorio se llena, su “cola” llega hasta el límite con Ecuador y semeja un impresionante lago artificial rodeado de la belleza natural del valle y en la parte de su desembocadura se encuentra la monumental estructura arquitectónica de las compuertas y diques de la represa. La sala de máquinas y controles se ubican debajo de las compuertas. Al lado derecho se ubica la compuerta donde se inicia el legendario canal “Miguel Checa”, y a la izquierda el canal de derivación hacia el río Piura.

En la represa de Poechos se ha desarrollado un interesante proyecto de piscicultura con el cultivo de especies de agua dulce, destacando la tilapia, la trucha y el paiche, y que hoy es parte de nuestra alimentación.

También, se puede practicar deportes como la motonáutica, sky acuático y la pesca

Para llegar a este lugar se utiliza la vía que conduce a Lancones en la margen derecha del río Chira y por la izquierda, se sigue el canal de derivación, aguas arriba, hasta la misma compuerta.

Auch kann es wie der motonáutica Sport geübt werden, aquatischer Himmel und das Fischen

Um zu dieser Stelle die Straße anzukommen daß es benutzt wird, fährt das zu Lancones im richtigen Flußufer des Flusses Chira, und für die Linke hat der Abstammung-Kanal fortgesetzt, Wasser auf, bis das gleiche Schleusentor.
